So I guess everyone knows that the economy is in shambles. Well that’s what they say. I don’t think it’s in shambles I just think we the people (yes I said we the people) need to just look outside the box. I was on my way to work last week and I started to think about things that for instance Baton Rouge needs. How many of you that live in Baton Rouge (or any city) think the traffic is her-ren-dus? Well if you don’t then I do and this is my blog and I’m going to write what I want (ha ha). Why doesn’t Baton Rouge build a sky link system like the Dallas airport or the one at Disney Land? This would do so much for Baton Rouge. This would
- 1. Give job’s to construction workers
- 2. Lessen traffic
- 3. Lessen Drunk Driving
- 4. Give Jobs to security people and many more
This whole idea of having to be stuck in traffic when you go to and leave work is just painful. Nothing is worse than sitting in traffic in Baton Rouge or pretty much anywhere.
I also think (notice I said think as this is my opinion) companies should be looking at these people that have recently gotten laid off. Many of these workers are probably great workers that just need a new beginning. These workers seem to be subjects of the corporate organizations trap. I have never worked for a company larger than 60 employees, but I would think that many hard workers are falling into this trap. What I mean by trap is that (from what I’ve heard about big corporate organization) is that most of the time you are just a number. In a smaller organization your voice can be heard easier. You can work more closely with the people who make decisions. I would bet that a lot of these people that are being laid off have big ideas and these ideas would be excellent for small to medium business.
I also have an age old question about new graduates. How are new graduates supposed to get experience when getting out of college? A new graduate is usually at the age of 22 to 23. The majority of the time it is hard to work and go to school at the same time. Some people are capable of working a “real job” and going to school. Not everyone has this luxury to find a job in their field while in college. I have a terrific idea to help layoffs and help new graduates. Develop an organization that hires the people that have been laid off to help develop the new graduates with real world experience. This isn’t like ITT tech or anything it would be like real life scenarios. For example you could have a team of 10 IT people doing support for some sort of new software that is being released by a small company. You could also have another team doing marketing for the same project. You could have people from marketing, IT, Accounting, and all other lines of business doing actual real life work and gaining real life experience. The catch would be that you would only be allowed to stay at the Real World Institute for 1 to 2 years. This would teach new graduates real world skills, working as a team, and how life is after college.
Everything I wrote are just my opinions on how we should look and think outside the box. The United States shouldn’t be about failure it should be about opportunity.
